X3D has already shown its usefulness in the display of engineering and scientific information. The picture on the left is from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). It shows that track of a particular dive. Ancillary information (stills, movies, data measurements) can be displayed at various points along the track. The DNA segment illustrates X3D capabilities to display highly complex models. The DNA world came out of scientific research by Dr. Paul May from School of Chemistry, University of Bristol, UK. The paper with a link to the world is at http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/motm/dna/dnav.htm.
